New technologies do not only consist of gain/loss in financial transactions and distant dreams in utopian fictions. On the contrary, it has the potential to enable us to develop solutions for a “better” world. Technology can help us repair our world. Answering the questions of “how to establish economic systems that protect resources critical for humanity and our planet” and “how to trigger restorative transformation” with the help of blockchain technology ReFi. It is at this point that it appears as a solution proposal. It brings the existing practices of nature to today’s economy as a new project.
Regenerative Finance: ReFi
Akbank ReFi Hackathon set out to experience together how world-restoring solutions are possible at the intersection of the impact ecosystem, Web3 technologies and sustainable finance.
The hackathon, organized in cooperation with Akbank and Avalanche, took place between September 30 – October 2!
At the event, teams who wanted to produce solutions on regenerative finance and design a new economy that would contribute to the world’s repair process came together.
19 teams, including 11 different blockchain clubs, from 7 cities and 23 different universities developed their projects on Avalance.
Hackathon Projects
The teams, which are looking for new solutions from the ReFi perspective on how concepts such as Blockchain, NFT and Web3 can serve sustainable financial systems and social benefit, created their projects after 48 hours of work at Sabancı Center and made their presentations to the jury.
As a result of the jury evaluations, the teams won their awards.

Chainway team won first place with the “Local Impact” project and won 100,000 TL.

Mono Payments team came second with the “MonoCarbon” project and received 60,000 TL,

With the projects “We Couldn’t Plant a Tree But” and “Granteed”, ITU Blockchain and Medipol DAO teams shared third place and won 40,000 TL awards each.
